Above all, Hagu is the guide I wished I could have found so many years ago when I began my yoga path.
Hi, I'm Giulia, and today I am very proud to say that I teach yoga as a job, a passion, and a life choice.
When I think back to my traumatic beginning, I never thought things would turn out this way.
Yoga has always fascinated me, even as a young girl. The first time I attended a yoga class I was in my 20s. To my surprise, it was an incredible disappointment! Simply, yoga and I were not working.
Maintaining the static postures was torture, I could not find peace during meditation, and although my body was on the mat, my mind was always elsewhere, as it is natural. I felt a strong attraction to the discipline, but I convinced myself that yoga was clearly not for me.
The turning point came with the first teacher with whom I really connected. With her I realized that my approach to yoga needed to be more dynamic and less meditative. From that moment, everything made sense.
I started practicing consistently and the mat became home.
Now that I am a teacher myself, I understand the reasons why people turn away from yoga and meditation. Perhaps you too have felt a deep curiosity about this discipline and could never find a class that made you feel really good.
There are many reasons for this, starting with the style of yoga being practiced and the approach of the teacher. There are people who are more inclined to a meditative style and others who need a dynamic style to feel the fatigue and energy flowing through the body. There are more fitness approaches and others more holistic.
The affinity one establishes with the teacher is also important. Practicing yoga and learning to show the more intimate side of yourself requires trust and attunement with the person you rely on during the practice.
I have traveled so much to learn more and more about this discipline. Bali, the Philippines, Japan, India: each place, each yoga studio became stages in my growth as a yogi.
Hagu is the fruit of this search, of my journey and also of my mistakes.
This is a safe place where I want to share with you the advice and practices of the teachers who have helped me develop my own key to yoga. My guides are now yours as well. I couldn’t be happier to give you a welcome hug!
Namasté,
Giulia
